The Big Hoot – Birmingham’s Childrens Hospital
Wild in Art are joining forces with Birmingham Children’s Hospital to produce The Big Hoot
Schools, Artists, Businesses and the local community are coming together to create a public art trail of incredible owl sculptures which will be on show across Birmingham from 20th July to the 27th of September.
There is going to be 89 huge owl sculptures to look at. The lovingly crafted pieces have been created by artists from Birmingham and beyond, they are each individual in their own right.
This means Birmingham will have it’s very own ‘Owl-Spotting’ tour for everyone of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy.
You can experience the trail which begins in the bustling City Centre and ends in the Royal town of Sutton Coldfield. Diverse areas such as Winson Green and Bournville plus many more in-between host this unique show of arts and craft. Look forward to enjoying open spaces; buildings of interest and Birmingham’s heritage and culture along the way.
All the of huge works of art have been generously sponsored by organisations and companies. When the show ends in September the Giant Owls will be auctioned off in a bit to raise much needed funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Birmingham’s school children and young adults have also joined the show. Over 120 owlets have been lovingly created and will displayed in ‘parliaments’ across the city. This part of of the exhibition is called The Little Hoot education programme.
We truly hope you enjoy the fresh air and have fun searching and finding the giant Owls spread across Birmingham’s areas.
It’s going to be a right Hoot!!!
